People incorrectly accuse Love,
Of damaging their hearts—
Because it is rejection and lies that causes the pain,
That tears our broken world further apart
Love is the only factor that heals,
That protects the festering wound from disease,
From infection that seems inevitable—
Love answers the gnawing lonely pleas
I used to think you were my cure-
My beautiful lover and my misery remedy
But you were the injury, my lesion,
It hurt so much, you crippled me
I used to believe the way you looked at me
Had more than a cold, hungry greed
Embedded into each beautiful
Green, grey and black speck in your eyes
But you were, are, nothing but a vulture
Hate it when I'm vibrant, when I fight back
Feed on my hopeless spirit and deadened heart
That's when you kick, strike out
You actually enjoy it when I frown
You wait and watch meticulously
For me to fall, to trip and stay down
You want me to fail at all I do
And I let you watch me
Of damaging their hearts—
Because it is rejection and lies that causes the pain,
That tears our broken world further apart
Love is the only factor that heals,
That protects the festering wound from disease,
From infection that seems inevitable—
Love answers the gnawing lonely pleas
I used to think you were my cure-
My beautiful lover and my misery remedy
But you were the injury, my lesion,
It hurt so much, you crippled me
I used to believe the way you looked at me
Had more than a cold, hungry greed
Embedded into each beautiful

But you were, are, nothing but a vulture
Hate it when I'm vibrant, when I fight back
Feed on my hopeless spirit and deadened heart
That's when you kick, strike out
You actually enjoy it when I frown
You wait and watch meticulously
For me to fall, to trip and stay down
You want me to fail at all I do
And I let you watch me
